PHINGERIN
IN-STORE ONLY
PHINGERIN was founded in Tokyo in 2008 by Tomoyuki Kobayashi, who arrived at fashion by an indirect route: two years in an electronics company after high school, then Bunka Fashion College, graduating in 2006. The brand began not with a collection but with a single, stubborn proposition — pajamas — cut from high-grade Italian shirting and sold by hand around Harajuku. The name itself carries the philosophy: “finger-made more delicate than handmade,” a pun on “finger” and the brand’s own spelling, proposing that the hand’s attention can exceed what “handmade” as a category implies. The founding concept has never moved: RELAX, LIGHT and MODERN — clothes that carry the ease of sleepwear into the street without losing structure or intent.
Pajama patterns are pulled into workwear, sportswear, tailoring, and punk silhouettes; seams are engineered to avoid touching the body; textures run from waffle knits and double gauze to dyed and washed denim.
